abstract

introduction:expensive chemical tests are usuallyapplied to control the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants. however, the cost of measuring these parameters is one of the challenges of the wastewater treatment plants. using statistical methods has been evaluated for possibility of calculating expensive parameters by measuring the inexpensive parameters in this study. methods:initial sample number in this study was 87cases, that were collected from sbr effluent treatment plants of yazd as a routine sampling for two years in march 2013 to march 2015.  tss and turbidity parameters were defined as independent variables and twelve parameters including bod5, cod, tkn, nh3, no3, no2, tp, th, ca, mn, alkalinity, and color were the dependent variables. spearrman test was used to investigate the significant relationship between independent and dependent variables.linear regression analysis was used to determine the linear equation between tss and turbidity as independent variables with bod5, cod, tkn, nh3, no2, tp and color as dependent variables. results:the results of the regression equations in relation to turbidity and tss with independent variables showed that the r value for color, tkn, nh3, bod5, cod tp, and no2 were 0.942 , 0.931 , 0.91 , 0.905 , 0.874 , 0. 872 and 0.86respectively from the highest to the lowest. conclusion:the measured values of bod5, cod, tkn, tp, no2, nh3, and color in laboratory were very close to those predicted through regression equations.. therefore, regression equations created in this study can be used to calculate expensive parameters.

Pharmaceuticals in Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluent Waters

Pharmaceuticals are being used at an increasing rate, and end up in wastewater through excretion and disposal. They also end up in the effluent water of wastewater treatment plants because they are not specifically designed for pharmaceutical removal. Several studies suggest diverse negative effects on aquatic life that are exposed to these trace amounts of pharmaceuticals in their habitats. Th...

Uptake of Some Elements with Aquatic Plants Exposed to the Effluent of Wastewater Treatment Plant

In this study, in the removal of macro (P, S, Na, K, Ca, Mg) and micro (Sb, Ba, Co, Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn, Hg, Mo, Se, Ag, Zn) elements in the effluent of Elazig Wastewater Treatment Plant, the efficiency of Lemna minor L. and Lemna gibba L. has been studied comparatively. For this aim, fronds of these plants have been adapted to the effluent of the treatment plant that feeds pilot scale reactors. The...

correlation between microbial quality and organic content in the effluent of an activated sludge wastewater treatment plant

aims: regarding water as the main source of brio, not only its quantity and being availability is vital, but also its quality must be considered. this study was done in order to determine the correlation between physicochemical bod5 and microbiological parameters (fc and tc) in the kashan university of medical sciences wastewater effluent of activated sludge system.  materials & methods: this d...
